2006-07
DRS ENERGY MANAGEMENT is
finalizing commissioning work on the new Whatcom Educational
Credit Union (WECU) Loan Center, Bellingham. This building
incorporates a high-efficiency Underfloor Air Distribution System that is
gaining popularity in commercial office design. LEED Energy &
Atmosphere Prerequisite 1 - Fundamental Building Systems Commissioning -
and Credit 3 - Additional Commissioning - criteria are being followed as
WECU is seeking LEED Gold Certification for this new building.
Other LEED Commissioning projects for 2007 will include two new WECU
branch buildings, a new Community Food Co-op grocery store and the new
Pickford Cinema.
2005
As a subconsultant to Engineering Economics,
Inc, DRS ENERGY MANAGEMENT
conducted Energy Modeling and Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) for a
chiller replacement project at Lindeman Pavilion, Virginia Mason Hospital,
Seattle. DRS
also performed the modeling and LCCA for the planned
renovation of Newport High School, Bellevue, WA, and provided energy analysis for a large regional military facility. In early
2004 we developed a LEED certified Measurement and Verification (M&V) Plan
for Marion Oliver McCaw Hall at Seattle Center. Over the
last two years, DRS performed the
LCCA on the modernization of
Interlake High School and Lake Hills Elementary School, also in Bellevue. Simulation modeling was developed with the Trane Trace 700
program. On all of the above school projects, standard State of Washington Department of General
Administration procedures were followed to identify the mechanical,
electrical and building envelope systems with the best life-cycle costs.
DRS has
added the capability of receiving project drawings electronically in
AutoCAD *.dwg and *.dwf and Adobe *.pdf formats. This reduces client
printing costs and expedites project execution.
Ongoing (2003--present)
DRS continues to conduct Washington State NREC plan
reviews and inspections for the permitting and occupancy of a variety of commercial
projects in the area. Recent projects in Bellingham and the greater
Whatcom County area include two distribution centers totalling 66,000 sf,
a 19,000 sf manufacturing facility, a 15,000 sf pharmacy/retail store, a 31,000 sf
medical arts center, an 11,000 sf branch bank building, a 12,000 sf office
park expansion and a 17,000 sf light industrial building. Energy
design support has also been provided on
numerous residential projects including a 253,000 sf 10 building
multi-family complex in Pasco, WA, a 140,000 sf senior
living complex in Mt Vernon and similar projects in Everett, Bremerton and
Sequim.
