Webhosting / Webmaster Tips & Tricks
This area contains some tips and tricks about managing your webhosting account, including running multiple domains, database access and managing mail accounts, forwarding and lists.

As always, in depth information can be found in the main documentation, this section just provides a little extra information.

Adding additional domains
In today's world of advertising, your website may be dedicated to multiple products or themes.

Because of this you may find it necessary to have additional domain names that are somehow associated with your main domain name.? Our webhosting services provide you with three different ways to do this depending on your specific needs.

  • Parked Domains - Sometimes referred to as a pointer domain. This parks a domain on top of another domain. That is, if you had a domain, mydomain.com, and pointed mydomain.net to mydomain.com, then going to mydomain.net would bring up the same page and directory structure of mydomain.com. Likewise, mydomain.net/directory would go directly to mydomain.com/directory. However, depending on which domain name was used, that domain name will show in the location bar in your browser. You can also create e-mail addresses for the mydomain.net domain name from the mydomain.com control panel.

  • Redirects - This redirects traffic to a specific a specific directory on one of your accounts. That is, you could have mydomain.net bring up the contents of mydomain.com/directory . With a redirect, the address shown in the location bar will change. So going to mydomain.net will show as mydomain.com/directory in your browser. You will be able to redirect all e-mail to the mydomain.net domain to one specific e-mail account, but it does not have to be associated with the mydomain.com account.

  • Addon Domains - Addon domains are somewhat of a mixture between a parked domain and a redirect. It offers the functionality of a redirect, but looks like a parked domain. As with a redirect, you can have mydomain.net point to a specific directory on the mydomain.com account. But, the account will look just like its own account to a regular visitor. The domain mydomain.net will show in the browser's location bar. In essence, you can split up the space on your current account into other smaller domains. Like with parked domains, you will be able to set up specific e-mail address for mydomain.net from within the control panel for mydomain.com.
